IPL (Intense Pulse Light) is a light based device that can reverse signs of sun damage by treating pigmented lesions, like sun spots, and redness. Many people consider this treatment a photo-facial because it is a very light treatment.
What can IPL help with?
Sun Spots
Age Spots
Freckles
Does NOT help with Melasma (pigmentation due to Hormones)
What can I expect after the IPL treatment?
In 1-2 days, tiny dark spots forming on the treated area will fall off in the next 1-2 days leaving a clear complexion. These dark spots can easily be covered by foundation. You will notice over the next couple of treatments, your age spots, sun spots, and freckles will become lighter.
How long is each IPL treatment and how many are recommended?
Each treatment takes about 15 minutes. A series of 4-6 treatments at monthly intervals are recommended.
Is there any downtime?
You can go back to work immediately. There will be no redness, swelling, or signs that you had any procedure just performed.
Are there any risk or side effect?
Like with any laser treatment, there is always a small risk of burnining, hyper-pigmentation of the skin, or hypo-pigmentation of the skin. Precautions are taken to decrease any of these risks.
